"Twenty three years ago this was me. I had given birth to a full term stillborn son, Benjamin. I felt empty. My arms ached with their emptiness. My breasts ached with their fullness. My eyes overflowed with tears. Yet I also felt the God was holding me; He had my back. He understood my grief because He also had lost His Son. Slowly through the years, this truth has filled me again. I am changed and even blessed by my grief, but not defined by it. It has taken me 23 years to be able to get this out through my art. The verse embroidered on it is Psalm 30:5, "Weeping lasts for the night, but joy comes in the morning." (Inspired by a sculpture "Melancholy" by Albert György on display in a park in Geneva Switzerland.) 2019 Curated into Sacred Threads 2019, an exhibition of art quilts in Washington, DC.
